VAB Medium Voltage Feeder Replacement
This NASA IDIQ project included the replacement of all of the
medium voltage cable within the Vertical Assembly Building and the
surrounding area. The VAB replacement consisted of the replacement of
over 15 miles of cable and the site consisted of the replacement of over
23 miles of cable within the existing underground duct bank system.
Because of the nature of the work within the VAB we developed a number
of wire handling systems along with a cable lowering system to handle
the vertical drops in this huge building. The VAB is one of the largest
buildings in the world standing 525’ tall and covering 8 acres of land.
