Safety First
We have a safety mission at AEI to protect our employees through
continued training and constant review of the hazards and dangers that
surround us in our work place. We are constantly working together to
recognize new safety concerns and address them together as a team. Our employees are required to attend training courses such as;
- Environmental Awareness
- CPR and First Aid
- E.L.S.A. Training
- FOD prevention
- and Space Shuttle Safety
Our employees also receive site specific training for the special
areas at KSC and CCAFS and many other projects that they are assigned to work. In addition to
this, our key employees have all attended a 40 hour OSHA Safety Training
Course. Prior to being placed on one of our projects each employee is
required to participate in our 4 hour Safety Awareness training that
consists of Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Ladder, Scaffold and
Stairway Safety, Electrical Safety and Lock Out Tag Out, Personal
Protective Equipment, Trenching, Shoring and Excavation, Hazardous
Communication and Job Site Safety and Security.
Our job site Superintendents conduct a “Weekly Safety Meeting” where
a general construction topic is discussed as well as a site specific
activity taking place that week.
Communication, Team Work and Attitude
Communication, Team Work and Attitude are the keys to a safe and
successful work environment. Every quarter, we host a Safety Picnic that
all of our employees are required to attend. At these Safety Picnics any
exceptional Safety and Job Performance for that quarter is recognized
with Awards and Gift Certificates.
This has been a great platform to bring in vendors to conduct
training on specific topics, our decision on which vendor or resource to
bring in is based on the training needs of our employees, or possibly to
address a unique hazard that may be present in an upcoming project. In
the past we have had representatives from vendors like Cadweld, Boggs
Gases, Fluke, Greenlee, and Space Coast Fire and Safety and many others
to showcase new products and Industry Standards.
In addition to the smaller training courses that we conduct we hosted
a 40 hour course with Raychem, TYCO and a resident expert trainer in
medium voltage for medium voltage cable splicing, familiarization
training and demonstrations. We also brought in highly experienced
instructors to demonstrate and train our employees in both safety and
installation standards, techniques, and requirements of today’s energy
industry. We are also F.D.O.T. M.O.T. Certified.
As you can see by our EMR Rating, safety is a priority to our team and
as a result of this commitment we have a very good workers compensation
multiplier. We have a commitment and promise to our employees to keep
them safe, and it is our priority to make AEI the safest and best work
place possible.
